PRAx and The Corvallis Folklore Society Present: Alex and Tatiana Hargreaves
Fiddlers Alex and Tatiana Hargreaves return to Corvallis — where the siblings grew up — from meteoric careers in old time, bluegrass, American roots and new acoustic music.
Alex Hargreaves currently tours full-time with Grammy award-winning guitarist and singer Billy Strings, having previously toured with Jerry Douglas, David Grisman, Bela Fleck, Danilo Perez and Sarah Jarosz. Described as “one of the greatest improvising violinists in America today” by virtuoso mandolinist/composer Mike Marshall, Alex Hargreaves released his debut album in 2010, which included special guests Bela Fleck and Noam Pikelny, and was a member of the Grammy award-winning Turtle Island Quartet from 2016-19.
Tatiana Hargreaves currently tours with Allison de Groot in a duo format, described by Paste magazine as a “can’t-miss pair.” Their rendition of Alice Gerrard’s song “Beaufort County Jail” was included in Rolling Stone Country’s “10 Best Country and Americana Songs to Hear.” Having toured with musicians that include Dave Rawlings, Gillian Welch, Laurie Lewis, Darol Anger, Bruce Molsky and Jake Blount, Tatiana Hargreaves brings a musical fluency that crosses genres with ease and offers continual musical freshness.
