PRAx Presents: American Strings: Ruth Moody

“Possibly possesses the prettiest voice in all of North Americana these days.” — Huffington Post

Award-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ruth Moody started out harmonizing with her brother and sisters on a goat farm in rural Manitoba. As a solo artist and as a founding and current member of The Wailin’ Jennys, Moody has won two JUNO Awards and performed in sold-out venues around the globe. Following a conversation with American Strings host Kelly Bosworth, Moody will perform a solo selection of music.

Established in 2017, the College of Liberal Arts presents American Strings — a series of conversations with iconic musicians whose sounds have shaped an era. Hosted by ethnomusicologist Kelly Bosworth, who picked up leadership of the series from founder Bob Santelli, American Strings offers probing dialogues as well as the opportunity to hear guest musicians performing selections in an intimate setting.
