In the decade since being named Gramophone Young Artist of the Year in 2016, baritone Benjamin Appl has won widespread acclaim in recital, opera and concert. One of the final students of the legendary Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Appl circulates through the world’s most prestigious stages, from the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam to Wigmore Hall in London and Carnegie Hall in New York.
At PRAx, Appl will present an intimate recital tracing the arc of romantic love through songs spanning multiple languages and centuries. The expansive and creative program includes works in German, English and French by Schumann, Britten, Poulenc, Grieg, Strauss, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Vaughan Williams and others.
