The School of Visual, Performing and Design Arts Presents: OSU Percussion Ensemble
Adventurous. Thoughtful. Cutting-edge. Lyrical. Theatrical. Groovy. The OSU Percussion Ensemble brings you the best in contemporary repertoire for struck instruments – from the classics of the genre stretching back to the early 20th century to the latest commissioned work in this new "Golden Age" of chamber percussion music. Alongside the usual panoply of concert toms, marimbas, snare drums, vibraphones, timpani, djembes and triangles, students in the ensemble will also happily make use of empty oxygen tanks, an altered piano, gongs suspended in water, electronic sound, multimedia, and the occasional confetti cannon. Enjoy the rhythmic precision, musicality, and unbridled enthusiasm of these fine musicians and their quirky collection of instruments!
The OSU Percussion Ensemble is co-directed by Dr. Robert Brudvig, Associate Professor and Director of Percussion, and Justin Preece, Instructor of Percussion and Coordinator for the Oregon State Drumline. The ensemble performs regularly around the Pacific Northwest and champions this new music for our time. Join the adventure!
