Conceived by dhol player Sunny Jain and described by The New Yorker as an “unrepentant maximalist,” Red Baraat has drawn worldwide acclaim for merging Punjabi rhythms with elements of hip-hop, jazz, ska and even punk.

Fun Facts about Red Baraat:

"Baraat" is in reference to the Hindi word for a marriage procession. In North India, it is a tradition on the day of the wedding for the groom to travel to his bride’s home on a magnificently decorated horse, accompanied by family and friends.

Red Baraat has performed in a few key music festivals over their 15 years of touring including Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, Bumbershoot, and New Orleans Jazz Fest.

They have performed on NPR's Tiny Desk concert series — twice! — both in 2012 and in 2017.
- Sunny Jain, founder of Red Baraat, appears as "Tambourine Man" in the recent Bob Dylan bio-pic "A Complete Unknown" which starred Timothée Chalamet.
