PRAx Presents: Vancouver Symphony with Phillippe Quint: Eight Seasons

Conducted by Catalan maestro Salvador Brotons, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra has a nearly 50-year history of presenting in Southwest Washington.

For their debut in PRAx, the orchestra presents an extraordinary program for a chamber-sized orchestra with soloist Philippe Quint, hailed by the United Kingdom’s Daily Telegraph for his “searingly poetic lyricism” and by The New York Times for his “breadth of tone and passion.” Quint has soloed with some of the world’s finest orchestras, including the London Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic and Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

But why the Eight Seasons? In this energetic program, Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons concerto will be joined by a thematically resonant, but musically very different set of works, Astor Piazzolla’s tango compositions Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas — also known as the “Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.”
