PRAx and Contemplative Studies Initiative Present: Well-Being Concert: Maeve Gilchrist and Seamus Egan
The fall Well-Being Concert features an amazing duo: legendary Irish-American musician Seamus Egan and Maeve Gilchrist, a celebrated Scottish harp player. Versatility co-exists with virtuosity for both musicians.
It’s hard to think of a more influential voice in traditional Irish music than the multi-instrumentalist Egan, while the intensely collaborative Gilchrist plays in contexts ranging from orchestral to jazz and folk, and alongside a cast of musicians that includes Yo-Yo Ma, esperanza spalding, and Tony Trischka.
In partnership with Carnegie Hall in New York City and Marigold, the OSU Center for Contemplative Practice, PRAx launches a series of concerts (one each in fall, winter and spring) that combine world-class musical performances with elements of self-care and mindfulness, animated by research that music helps people heal and thrive.
