Microbiomes

Microbiomes
A series of exhibitions in 2017
- "Microbiomes: To See the Unseen" (The Corvallis Arts Center and OSU campus)
- "Microbiomes: Imagining the Unseen" (The Little Gallery, Oregon State University)
- "Microbiomes: Connecting the Communities" (Nash Hall, Oregon State University)
These exhibitions included art in a variety of mediums, from glass, clay, and petri dish cultures, to woodworking, photography, painting and printmaking. The series, part of the SPARK initiative co-sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts and College of Science, featured hundreds of works by area artists, Oregon State University faculty and students, as well as local elementary school students. Artists included Michael Boonstra, Susan Circone, Kristin LeVier, Chi Meredith, Meaghan Gates, Jerri Bartholomew and others.
The desire to ignite interdisciplinary curiosity united these exhibitions, which sought to reimagine the beauty and elegance of microbial science and ecosystems. The collections exemplified the inquisitive and inventive nature of the human mind in its quest to understand the mystique that lies in the unseen reaches of our planet.
