PRAx invites faculty from across campus to reach out about including visiting artists, performers and speakers in their courses and activities.  Visit our Events page to browse our upcoming events. It takes time to develop a meaningful engagement opportunity, so we encourage you to plan two months in advance.

An engagement might include a particular artist/performer visit that connects with your class. We can also explore plans for before and after an artist's visit that extend course themes with attendance at an event. Or, if you don’t see an upcoming event that seems relevant to your class, we’d be happy to learn about what you might be interested in and share future opportunities as they arise.

What we offer

A thought partner to develop plans for engagement and logistics support (e.g., scheduling, space, materials and student tickets for relevant PRAx events). We can also help you imagine interesting and creative partnerships across the disciplines and within courses.

Inspiration and Ideas

  • Invite a visiting artist, performer or speaker to join your class for a workshop or discussion. For example, a performance artist and costume designer leads a sewing class for students in Apparel Design.

  • Host an expressive movement class. For example, the College of Public Health invites a dance troupe to develop a Dance and Wellness workshop for students in Psychology and Contemplative Studies.

  • Invite a performer to host a workshop or “masterclass.” For example, an electric guitarist gives a workshop on composing and improvisation for guitar ensemble students.
