The L.L. Stewart Faculty Fellowship supports collaboration between artists, scientists, and engineers. Through the financial support of the Provost’s Office and the logistical support of PRAx, Oregon State University faculty are appointed as L.L. Stewart Faculty Fellows to explore questions with one or more visual or performing artists, and artists develop new work in response to those questions. The details of each collaboration may vary, but in general artists become deeply involved (via residencies or similar engagements) in research labs, field work or other projects. Through the sharing of ideas, questions, methods and practices, the program creates the space for new ideas and outcomes to emerge.

Each year, the L.L. Stewart Faculty Fellowship will be awarded to an OSU science or engineering faculty member. The faculty member is then paired with an artist who becomes a PRAx artist-in-residence. PRAx supports the collaboration by coordinating the pairing process and by helping create opportunities to showcase the projects and outcomes.

We invite OSU science and engineering faculty to learn more and apply for an L.L. Stewart Faculty Fellowship
