Located on the south side of Yaquina Bay, Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) serves as Oregon State University’s campus for research, education and outreach in marine and coastal sciences. Residencies at Hatfield create opportunities for engagement with scientific and interdisciplinary research related to coastal and marine habitats as well as to the people whose work promotes and relies on their health.

  • On-campus housing arrangements determined in consultation with program managers and Hatfield staff, generally in furnished apartments.
  • Access to and engagement with world-renowned marine science labs. 
  • Reliable internet and cell service. 
  • Residents provide their own transportation, food and laptop. 
  • Available self-serve laundry facilities.
  • On-campus café.
  • Access to Guin Research Library.
  • Shipboard opportunities may be possible. 
  • Easy access to the Yaquina Estuary Trail to view native habitats and local birds and wildlife.
  • Located a five minute drive from the historic Newport Bayfront.
