Join Pulitzer Prize-winner and 19th Poet Laureate of the United States, Natasha Trethewey, for an evening of poetry and conversation, in celebration of her receiving the 2026 Stone Award for Literary Achievement.

Widely regarded for her clear, lyrical voice, Trethewey is author of five collections of poetry, two memoirs, and one work of nonfiction. Trethewey’s Pulitzer Prize-winning collection, Native Guard, is often cited as a landmark in contemporary American poetry for its lyrical intimacy and deep engagement with archival history. Her body of creative work explores how private lives are shaped by public narratives, using poetry to restore voices and experiences that offer a richer accounting of US history.

About the Stone Award

One of the largest prizes of its kind given by any university in the nation, it was established in 2011 by Patrick and Vicki Stone with a gift to the OSU Foundation to spotlight OSU’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program in the School of Writing, Literature, and Film. Past award recipients include Lynda Barry, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Joyce Carol Oates, Colson Whitehead and Tobias Wolff.
