PRAx and Chamber Music Corvallis Presents: Bang on a Can All-Stars: 90 x 90: Terry Riley and Philip Glass
Come join Bang on a Can All-Stars to celebrate the 90th birthdays of iconic composers Terry Riley and Philip Glass.
Few ensembles could do this like the All-Stars. Founded in 1992, the All-Stars have collaborated with a who’s who of new music, including Glass, Riley, Steve Reich, Meredith Monk, Ornette Coleman and many others. Their legendary commitment to innovative music, wherever it is found, includes the famous marathon sessions and performances that freely cross the boundaries of classical, jazz, rock and experimental genres.
At PRAx, the All-Stars will perform a two-work program featuring Terry Riley’s short piece A Rainbow in Curved Air and Philip Glass’s Glassworks, a landmark work of minimalist composition that has very rarely been performed live in its complete one-hour form.
