Center for the Humanities Presents: Bookfest!
Books take over PRAx! Learn about the world of BookTok and Bookstagram and explore the phenomenon of banned books. Sip a coffee and curl up with a book — your own or one from our pop-up bookstore, featuring book-themed merch. Try your hand at a flash fiction or poetry-writing workshop. Bring your family for story time. Discover whether the decline in reading is real. View a classic bookstore film and browse an exhibit on book arts. To cap it off, Merve Emre, contributing writer at The New Yorker, will explore why reading matters now.
Merve Emre is a professor at Wesleyan University and director of the Shapiro Center for Creative Writing and Criticism. She is the author of three books, including The Personality Brokers, which was selected as one of the best books of 2018 by The New York Times.
