PRAx Presents: Cedric Watson: A Creole Christmas
The winter holidays heat up at PRAx! Four-time Grammy-nominated fiddler, accordionist, singer and songwriter Cedric Watson brings the amazing rhythms of Cajun, Creole and Zydeco music to Detrick Hall. With his band Bijou Creole, Watson resurrects the ancient sounds of the French and Spanish contra dance and bourreé alongside the spiritual rhythms of the Congo tribes of West Africa.
Originally from San Felipe, Texas (population 868), Cedric Watson moved to south Louisiana as a young musician, immersing himself in French music and language. His expansive career has since seen him perform in 17 countries and produce seven full-length albums. He joins us at PRAx for his first-ever Christmas tour.
