PRAx Presents: A New Year's Eve Celebration with Chantil Dukart (Indigenous Jazz Club)

Chantil Dukart is from the Eagle clan. She is the granddaughter of Anna and Cecil Barnes and a descendant of the T'simshian and Sugpiaq (Aluutiq) Indigenous People of Alaska. Through the lens of her ancestral roots, personal experiences and contemporary influences, she writes and produces a blend of pop and jazz music. An accomplished jazz pianist/singer/composer, Dukart has performed all over the world and shared the stage with such world class musicians as Jill Scott, Junius Bervine (Pharrell, Kendrick Lamar); Michael Piolet (Hamilton); Dwayne Moore (Beck, Lauren Hill); Adam Deitch (Lettuce); and Kris Myers (Umphrees Mcgee).

About the Indigenous Jazz Club
An intimate jazz-and-drinks experience in a classic jazz club setting. We'll celebrate the New Year with an 8:30 p.m. performance and a 20-minute intermission in the Ray Theater.
Curated by vocalist and band leader Julia Keefe (Nez Perce), the Indigenous Jazz Club explores how contemporary Native musicians are weaving tradition, improvisation, and experiment through jazz forms. From Mildred Bailey to Jim Pepper and Don Cherry, jazz history is interlaced with Indigenous contributions. Come hear musicians at the forefront of the next creative wave.
