PRAx Presents: Delfeayo Marsalis and The Uptown Jazz Orchestra
PRAx kicks off the 2026-27 season right — with a festive premiere co-presented with our season sponsor: the OSU Foundation. Prepare to step into a night where we bring the red carpet to you with our 2026-27 season launch!
This concert features special reservable table seating in Detrick Hall and an upscale food-and-beverage service to accompany the New Orleans-born rhythms of Delfeayo Marsalis and the Uptown Jazz Orchestra.
Nearly 20 years ago, NEA Jazz Master and Grammy Award-winning trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis formed the Uptown Jazz Orchestra. His purpose: to preserve jazz traditions — including riff-playing, spontaneous group improvisation and collective New Orleans instrumental polyphony. Marsalis has shaped music culture through related projects such as the ensemble’s now-famous Jazz at Congo Square Festival and Marsalis’ educational program, Swinging with the Cool School, an experimental form of music therapy originated at the Children's Hospital of New Orleans. Marsalis stands out not just as an exceptional bandleader but also as a deeply committed educator and cultural ambassador.
Tickets for this all-sparkles-welcome event include regular seating but also private boxes, group tables for eight or more, and a limited number of two-person tables. Available tab;es will be released sequentially to Friends of PRAx, regular attendees at PRAx concerts and the general public.
Please note that any ticketing for this event is not available as part of our 3, 5 or 7 pick your own packages.
PRAx gratefully acknowledges the support of the OSU Foundation for this program.
