An empty road in the middle of the night. A young woman stumbles across the dead body of her uncle. Complications ensue, as his funeral brings to light the lies she and her family have been telling about him for decades. The Zambian auteur Rungano Nyoni won the Best Director Award for On Becoming a Guinea Fowl (2024) at the Cannes Film Festival.
