PRAx Presents: Johannes Moser: Alone Together

“One of the finest among the astonishing gallery of young virtuoso cellists.” — Gramophone

German-Canadian cellist and Brahms Prize winner Johannes Moser brings a program founded on what The Strad describes as a “sheer sense of verve.” This classical music concert makes extensive use of multitracking to turn one cellist’s playing into an entire cello ensemble and a spatialized audio experience. At PRAx, Moser will perform half the program acoustically — and the other half with a multichannel speaker system that creates a surround sound experience.

In a program that includes Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite and Arvo Pärt’s Fratres, Moser demonstrates not just the fascinating potential of this particular project but also the virtuosity that has led to his appearances with the world’s leading orchestras — including, to take just a selection, the Berliner Philharmoniker, New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony and London Symphony Orchestra.

Johannes Moser appears at PRAx as the holder of the 2026-27 Paula and Ken Krane Residency, designated for an exceptional music soloist or theatre practitioner who will work closely with OSU students in addition to their on-stage appearance.
