PRAx Presents: Las Cafeteras: Hasta La Muerte

Travel through time, color, sound, rhythm and memory when Las Cafeteras returns to PRAx. A mind-bendingly provocative band working where Afro-Mexican rhythms meet traditional instruments, electronic beats and powerful rhymes, Las Cafeteras celebrates life and death in its first theatrical show. Mesmerizing choreography, poetry, and a score of original and traditional songs come together in the fertile imagination of this ensemble from East LA.

Lightbox Happy Hour: Begins at 6 p.m.

Join us for a glass of wine or beer before the event. Lightbox Happy Hour opens at 6 p.m. in Toomey Lobby.

In Toomey Lobby, you will also see the ofrenda as part of Día de los Muertos, which honors those in our communities who have passed away. The celebration features arches created by the Centro Cultural César Chávez and the kaku-ixt mana ina haws, with symbolic elements such as sugar skulls, marigolds, bread, and interactive spaces for notes, photos, and reflections. Visitors are invited to engage with the ofrenda, learn about these traditions, and participate in a community remembrance.
