School of Visual, Performing and Design Arts Presents: A Novel Strategy, a Mozart Opera

Sunny! Poignant! Delightful!  Eight characters navigate the tricky waters of family business and office romance in a fresh new adaptation of Mozart’s La Finta Semplice (“A Novel Strategy”). OSU’s vocal performers sing in English, exploring ubiquitous themes of love, passion and frustration. In Mozart’s clever hand, the psychological landscape delves into hidden desires for freedom, independence and power. Even at the tender age of 12, Mozart had an uncanny ability to compose music expressing fluid and contradictory human emotions. Mozart’s young genius shines brightly through the distinctive ensembles and translucent melodies, all singing the sublime ambiguities of love and life in search of A Novel Strategy.

Cast and orchestra are OSU Vocal Performance and Theater students directed by Amy Hansen in collaboration with Stacie Lillis, Arin Anderson, Joshua Hiser and a Corvallis High School crew.
