PRAx and the School of Visual, Performing and Design Arts Present: Music à la Carte presents Aruna Quartet

The School of Visual, Performing and Design Arts’ lunchtime “brown bag” concert series, Music à la Carte, relaunches with a new schedule and location in the beautiful Toomey Lobby at PRAx. This month we present the Aruna Quartet.

“Aruna” translates literally to “red, ruddy, tawny”– a succinct descriptor of the dust storms and sprawling, sunsets that so define the west Texas landscape where the Aruna Quartet was formed. Join us for a mid-day musical mix of uncanny grooves, minimalist meditations and club bangers, as the Aruna Quartet presents a program of hyper-rhythmic music inspired by nonverbal understanding, Pablo Neruda and Miami Sound Machine.

Program:
Jennifer Higdon | Bop (2004)
Marc Mellits | Tapas (2017)
Gemma Peacocke | Hazel (2022)
Bobby Ge | To Speak As One (2023)
Emma O’Halloren | Night Music (2014)

Free, open to all. Music à la Carte is presented by the College of Liberal Arts | School of Visual, Performing and Design Arts and PRAx, with support from student fees and a generous contribution from Marlan and Angela Carlson.

Bring your lunch and head to PRAx for this month’s midday music interlude!
