Spring Creek Project Presents: Old Growth: A Reading and Conversation with Lynda Mapes and Jerry Franklin
Nature's cathedral, old and mature forests are refuge for the human spirit, homes for rare and fragile species, and crucial allies in cooling our warming planet. Join us for a discussion with author Lynda Mapes and legendary forest ecologist Jerry Franklin about old and mature forests: why they matter, how we have lost so much of them, and why we must save what remains.
Lynda Mapes is an environmental reporter and author whose new book, The Trees Are Speaking: Dispatches from the Salmon Forests, invites us into a new relationship with and understanding of old growth forests. She'll share selections from her book at the event.
Jerry Franklin is the guru of old growth: He taught us in his career as a forest ecologist and professor at the University of Washington much of what we know about these ancient forests.
Grass Roots Books will provide book sales at the event.
