The School of Visual, Performing, and Design Arts Presents: OSU Lyric Workshop (Winter)

Offered as a course at OSU, the Lyric Workshop (aka “OpShop”, formerly Opera Workshop) provides a creative space for students to explore many genres and aspects of singing performances. Whether it's musical theater scenes, a full-scale opera production, or dinner entertainment at a winery, vocal performance students are being equipped to prepare a variety of roles to navigate an ever-widening range of venues and perform with poise and polish. OSU Lyric Workshop promotes a supportive learning atmosphere where students cultivate their craft, try new skills, and have a sense of belonging as they prepare for professional careers on the stage.

This year, the OSU Lyric Workshop will seek to cast current OSU students in operatic roles, giving them an opportunity to extend and strengthen their talents.  Amy Hansen, an accomplished musician and singer, will teach and direct. Her leadership of the Workshop stresses animation, bringing to life the storytelling, applying what students learn in classrooms to live performances, and inviting the audience into the drama.
