Tonality: A Choral Spectrum

Directed by Alexander Lloyd Blake, the Los Angeles-based vocal ensemble Tonality creates gorgeous concerts focusing on issues rarely present in choral music. At PRAx, Tonality takes on the topic of mental health awareness. A pre-concert program puts the spotlight on community and OSU mental health providers. This evening is dedicated to them. Aaron Diehl + The Aaron Diehl Trio

On this very special night, virtuoso pianist Aaron Diehl introduces the Corvallis audience to the gorgeous new Steinway Concert Grand piano that he selected for the Detrick Hall in PRAx. Prior to the performance, visit the Toomey Lobby to see a video of the selection at the Steinway factory in New York City to learn about the features that make a Steinway a Steinway. The program itself will demonstrate the range of the instrument, combining Diehl’s artful renditions of classical material with his ethereal and inventive jazz playing. Learn more about this event.

PUBLIQuartet

Two-time Grammy nominees, PUBLIQuartet’s modern interpretations of chamber music make them one of the most dynamic artists of their generation. Through programs like PUBLIQ Access, they promote emerging composers and present a wide variety of underrepresented music with the aim of generating interest in new music while also engaging traditional classical music audiences. Their program “What is American?” offers an exploration of Dvořák's beloved “American” Quartet while expanding the range of idioms and musical traditions to include contemporary, blues, jazz, free and rock-inflected music.
